A Chinese joint venture between Bombardier Transportation and New United Group (NUG) known as Bombardier NUG Propulsion System (BNP) will supply Mitrac propulsion and control equipment for 264 metro cars, which are set to operate on the Nanchang Metro Line 3 and Line 2 Extension Project in China.

Two separate contracts have been signed as part of the new arrangement, which feature a combined value of CNY204m ($30m).

The scope of the deal includes the provision of engineering, manufacturing, testing and commissioning services, as well as the initial delivery of spare parts for the propulsion systems.

Proven Management has been awarded a contract from US-based commuter rail company Caltrain for the South San Francisco Station Improvement project.

Work under the new $32.1m contract is set to begin in November 2017 and will be completed by mid-2019.

The improvements will enable the station to offer improved connectivity along Grand Avenue in the city of South San Francisco, California.

Hofmann Engineering will build 900 bogie frames for a high-capacity metro project in Australia.

The company is set to construct the new frames at its workshop in the city of Bendigo.

The frames will be integrated into a new set of trains that are expected to enter service on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines from 2019.

Siemens has entered a framework agreement to deliver 100 locomotives to Deutsche Bahn's rail freight arm DB Cargo.

Delivery of the new trains is set to begin from the end of 2017.

The locomotives will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) and are intended for operation on the Rhine-Alpine-Corridor, as well as in Belgium.

The trains will be designed to run at a maximum speed of 160km/h.
