CMA CGM’s 22,000 TEUs to fly French flag

During a speech at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur Maritime, Rodolphe Saadé, General Director of the CMA CGM Group announced the company’s decision to register four of its 20,000+ TEUs, under the French Flag.

According, to Mr. Saadé the next 20,600 TEU vessel to be registered under the French flag will be named ‘CMA CGM Antoine de Saint Exupery’.

Additionally, the company’s three 22,000 TEU ships powered by LNG will also fly the French flag.

Earlier in November, CMA CGM Group announced its intention to equip its 9 future ships of 22,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), delivered in 2020, with engines using liquefied natural gas.

A decision made by CMA CGM in order to comply with the sulphur cap limit to 0.5% in 2020 and the Paris Agreement.
