Port Boulogne Calais confirmed as a “green port”

TINNews |

The Port Boulogne Calais announced that it has received the PERS ECOPORTS seal of approval, for a third time, on November 8 in Brussels, during the ESPO General Assembly, for its policy of preserving the environment.

After being awarded, the port confirmed its status as a “green port”.

The award is given by the ECOPORTS association, which aims to improve the environmental management of European ports, thus it rewarded the Port of Boulogne Calais for its sustainable development.

The certification is based on items of the ISO 14001 standard to which the Port Boulogne Calais is committed.

“In recent years, the Port Boulogne Calais has undertaken an ambitious initiative in terms of sustainable development, notably through a sustained programme of certifications,” Port Boulogne Calais noted.

During ESPO’s General Assembly, the organisation also released the results of the PORTOPIA project.

PORTOPIA, which started in 2013, presents an international consortium of academic, research and industrial partners aiming at creating a port management system to serve the industry’s stakeholders in improving the sustainability and competitiveness of the European Port System.
