TIN news:   Construction has commenced on the Texas State Highway 360 (SH 360) South project, which will see the addition of lanes to the highway stretching almost ten miles, from I-20 in Arlington, to south of US 287 in Ellis County.
The $330m project is being overseen by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), reported roadsbridges.com.
"This project will see the addition of bridges on the northbound route of US 287 and southbound route of SH 360."
Initially, two toll lanes will be constructed in each direction, beginning near East Sublett Road and then stretching up south to US 287.
Substantial work of this phase is expected to be completed by 2017.
By next year, SH 360 will feature two frontage road lanes and two toll lanes in each direction. During the second phase plan, three to four toll lanes will be added in each direction.
Although there is currently no funding plan in place for this phase, it is estimated to be around $604m.
This project will see the addition of bridges on the northbound route of US 287 and southbound route of SH 360.
It will boost safety improvements, ease congestion and bolster local economy.
