European airports across report ۸% rise in April passenger traffic

TIN news:   The Airports Council International (ACI) Europe has reported an 8% increase in passenger traffic across the European airport network in April, compared with the same period last year.
 
EU airports experienced an average increase of 7.4%, while passenger traffic at non-EU airports increased by 10%, compared with the same month in 2013.
 
Aircraft movements across the whole of Europe increased by 2% in April, while freight traffic witnessed a modest rise of 3%.
 
Airports are classified according to the number of passengers they welcome each year; Group 1 signifies more than 25 million passengers, Group 2 between ten and 25 million, Group 3 between five and ten million and Group 4 indicates fewer than five million annual passengers.
 
Group 1 airports that reported the highest increase in passenger increase include London Gatwick Airport, Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Barcelona Airport.
 
Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, Tel Aviv and Athens International Airport are among the airports in Group 2 with the highest increase in traffic.
 
Group 3 airports that witnessed the highest increases in traffic include Heraklion, Lanzarote, Faro, Birmingham and Catania.
 
Montichiari, Santorini, Chania, Belgrade and Chambery are among the airports in Group 4 that saw an increase in passenger traffic, with Montichiari and Santorini reporting a signifcant rise of 1,097.1% and 55.8% respectively.
 
ACI revealed that the Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4 airports reported an average adjusted passenger traffic rise of 7%, 11.4% and 4.6% and 7.5% respectively, compared with April 2013.
