Škoda and CSR Sifang unveil ForCity tram
TIN news: A prototype 15T ForCity tram made by CSR Qingdao Sifang for the Chinese market under licence from Škoda Transportation, has started demonstration runs for potential customers in China.
The trams are being manufactured under a 10-year technology transfer agreement announced on June 3 2013 that will allow the Chinese manufacturer to produce up to 400 trams, taking the value of the contract to KC5bn. Škoda has trained 150 Chinese staff as part of this agreement.
The 50·6 m long, five-section 100% low-floor tram is based on the Škoda 14T model. It is equipped with permanent-magnet motors and has a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
