Thales’ TopSky - AMHS and AIM to secure airspace across six Central American countries

TIN news:      Air navigation service provider Corporación Centroamericana de Servicios de Navegación Área (COCESNA) has selected Thales' TopSky- Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) and AIM to secure airspace across six Central American countries.

As part of the agreement, Thales will provide COCESNA with a full set of aeronautical information products, including equipment and training for an AMHS and latest generation aeronautical database in compliance to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) transition from AIS to AIM.
Thales TopSky - AIM has been designed to support Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) and next-generation developments.
The solution, which incorporates leading technology breakthroughs, also complies with ICAO's Aviation System Block Upgrades.
The Aeronautical Information eXchange Model (AIXM5) includes a publication system, as well as equipment for Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) office, Meteo and flight preparation services.
AIXM5 defines a standard structure for exchanging aeronautical information such airport, route, airspace, navigational aids among others and NOTAM is an alert to aircraft pilots of potential hazards along a flight route or at a location.
The company had signed a similar contract with a multinational air navigation service provider, ASECNA, which is responsible for the monitoring of 17 African countries.
Last month, the company was contracted by Iraq's Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport to supply one Instrument Landing System and Distance Measuring Equipment (ILS/DME) to enhance air traffic management capabilities.
