Avinor and Kongsberg to invest $۴۸.۶m on remote towers technology

TIN news:       Kongsberg Defence Systems has signed an agreement with Norway's Avinor Air Navigation Services to supply remote towers to airports across the country.

Under the terms of agreement, which is estimated to value the NOK400m ($48.6m), the companies will deliver a complete technology for remote control of tower services at a number of airports from a single spot.

Avinor has previously announced plans to introduce remote control and tower services at up to 15 airports from a single tower centre in Bodø. It is being speculated that a further investment could bring additional Avinor airports into the contract.

Kongsberg combines defence technology such as rugged and innovative sensors, secure and redundant network based systems for remote control of towers, as well as control of real-time data and data storage, with Indra Navia's advanced software for tower management.

Avinor will deliver integrated visualisation systems based on the Nova Tower line. The system is already in use at airports including London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Dubai and Beijing.

Avinor CEO Dag Falk-Petersen said: "Indra Navia president Eldar Hauge said: "With more than 95% export of tower systems from Norway to the world's leading aviation organisations and airports, we look forward to cooperating with Avinor and Kongsberg, then provide this unique solution to a growing international market."
