Londons upgraded Victoria line operates up to ۳۴ trains an hour

TIN news:    Transport for London (TfL) has announced that the Victoria line on the London Underground (LU) is now offering the most frequent train service in the UK.

The announcement follows the introduction of advanced signalling and a brand new fleet of trains on the line, as part of an upgrade by LU.

Renovations on the Northern line are expected to be completed later this year.

Operating from Brixton to Walthamstow Central, the additional trains cater to the increasing passenger traffic at the northern end of the Victoria line.

Mayor Boris Johnson said: "Passengers are starting to see the benefits of increased services and capacity on other major Tube lines as well."

The UK Government intends to invest in and deliver improvements across the Tube network, in order to reduce delays by 30% by the end of 2015.

LU COO Phil Hufton said: "TfL's investment programme has resulted in a higher capacity for Victoria and Northern line customers.

"The Victoria line is now operating the most frequent service in the UK with up to 34 trains an hour, which is less than two minutes between trains in the vital morning and evening rush hours and comparable with any service across Europe."

Additionally, redevelopment work to increase capacity at key stations, including Victoria, Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street, is currently underway.
