Leonardo - Finmeccanica to provide four new ATC radars for China’s Instrimpex

TIN news:   Italy-based Leonardo-Finmeccanica has won a contract to provide four new air traffic control (ATC) radar systems for China’s National Instruments Import and Export (Instrimpex).
The four ATCR-33S NG primary radars will be used during flight departures and aircraft landing.
Developed on the basis of Leonardo’s ATCR-33S ENH systems, the newly ordered radars will also be used for extended terminal area surveillance (ETA).
Equipped with gallium nitride (GaN) power transistor technology, the ATCR-33S NG radars further provide improved transmission power in all weather conditions.
"The radars are also equipped with new technology available in the communication, navigation and surveillance market."
The radars are also equipped with new technology available in the communication, navigation and surveillance market.
So far, Leonardo has installed more than 60 ATC systems across China and has provided its ATC systems to around 150 other countries worldwide.
In July, Leonardo secured a deal to provide 20 weather radar systems for Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The deal also includes options for up to 13 additional radars along with documentation, related training and project management services.
Earlier in 2016, Leonardo also entered into a deal to replace the existing ATC radars at 12 major Canadian airports,  including Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary.
