Kyrgyz Republic’s Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Transport and Roads and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have initiated a new strategic partnership by signing a long-term co-operation agreement.

Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate to enhance efficiency and support sustainable growth in the civil aviation sector.

Pursuant to the new memorandum of understanding (MoU), the government body and IATA will collaborate to improve safety and security, implement new technologies, enhance airport infrastructure, and share data on air transport and traffic forecasts.

They will also collaborate on airport and air navigation charges, and environmental initiatives, and improve the quality of training in civil aviation.

A specialist consortium led by Mott MacDonald has secured a contract to develop the concept design for a combined domestic and international terminal for Auckland Airport in New Zealand.

Comprised of Mott MacDonald, Grimshaw, Architectus and Holmes Consulting, the consortium is responsible for designing building works over the next ten years.

The scope of works includes designing the new integrated domestic terminal, expansion of border processing and combining new transport and car parking facilities.

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways has signed a new code-share partnership with Spanish air transportation provider, Iberia.

Pursuant to the agreement, the former will place its code on select services operated by the latter between six Spanish cities, including Madrid, Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Palma and Valencia, and Lisbon in Portugal.

The passengers travelling on the codeshare flights will be provided with checked-through baggage services and eligible to earn Asia Miles on their trip.
